Bananna Boat Song Easy Piano Sheet Music
Banana Boat Song (Day-O) is a traditional folk song from Jamaica that was created somewhere between late 19th to early 20th century during the rise of the banana industry in the country. It is classified as a calypso type of music with some mento influences. The most popular version of the song was performed by Harry Belafonte in 1956, with some notable versions and adaptations from Shirley Bassey, Shaggy, and The Police.
The song is about dock workers who were helping to load bananas onto cargo ships during the night shift. Once they see the coming daylight, they know that their work is about to end and they want their coworker ("the tally man") to come and start counting up the stacks of bananas they loaded so they can go home.
